Vibrant Church Initiative

The Vibrant Church Initiative (VCI) is an initiative within the Methodist Church to help congregations be more outwardly focused and tie their existing ministry to mission and ongoing relationships. Our church is at the prescription level, meaning we have a list of items VCI will help coach our congregation through if we decide to pursue that course of action.

The consolation lead, which provided our Vibrant Church Initiative Report (prescriptions), includes the following:

Rev. Fred Willis, Lead Consultant

Rev. Bryan Harkness, Directive Coach

Marylyn Green, Scribe

Two separate town hall sessions have been held to go over the prescriptions. You can find a summary of those discussions here.

Thursday, 4 February 2016 @ 5:30 PM

Tuesday, 16 February 2016 @ 10 AM

District Superintendent Chuck Huffman will lead a called Church Conference for us to vote on the acceptance of the prescriptions from the Vibrant Church Initiative (VCI). All members of the church may vote. To accept the VCI recommendations, 75% of voting members must vote to accept the prescriptions.

Sunday, 6 March 2016 @ end of church service

If we vote to adopt the prescriptions, we will begin a 12 to 18 month process of implementation. If adopted, Bryan Harkness will become our coach as we begin the process.

If we vote not to adopt the prescriptions, the VCI will end at our church. We can still address our issues, but we'll do so on our own and without the guidance of any coaching.

As a Disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of this Church family we encourage you to participate in this program that will help us reach out, grow our church and bring others to Christ.
